Liberty Financial opened a full-service credit union in Bowling Green in a newly constructed building at 544 Lovers Lane on Friday, December 28. The branch offers all credit union services, including the popular Vertical Checking which pays 3.00% APY on amounts up to $20,000.  Nikki Sebree-Ligon, a veteran of the financial industry in Bowling Green and Owensboro, manages the location.

Liberty Financial will hold a grand opening celebration in Bowling Green in early 2019 with giveaways, raffles and specials. For information about becoming a member or enrolling your business as a Select Employment Group, visit the Lovers Lane location, go online to liberty.financial, or call 1-866-875-4500. The branch will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fridays, and 8:30 a.m. to noon (drive-thru until 1 p.m.) on Saturdays.

ETFCU, based in the southwestern Indiana city of Evansville, a two-hour drive from Bowling Green, has full-service Liberty Financial credit unions in Louisville, Kentucky, and Franklin, Tennessee, with more planned in the coming year – including a second location in Franklin. It also operates nine mortgage-only locations in the mid-south, including at 966 Wilkinson Trace in Bowling Green. There are 14 locations under the original ETFCU banner, with 11 in Indiana (six in Evansville along with individual branches in Fort Branch, Mount Vernon, Newburgh, Princeton and Vincennes) and three in Kentucky (two in Owensboro, one in Henderson). Another location will open in Washington, Indiana in early 2019.

As a federally insured (NCUA) not-for-profit credit union, ETFCU and Liberty Financial return value to members via innovative products and services, including high-interest checking accounts, ATM fee reimbursement, and robust rewards programs. In 2018, the total value returned to members will be more than $3.5 million, with approximately $2 million on interest paid on checking accounts, $1 million on reward points earned on debit cards, and $500,000 in reimbursements of ATM fees charged by other financial institutions—up to $15 per qualifying account per month.

ETFCU was founded by teachers from the Evansville school system and then-Evansville College in 1936. It includes more than 205,000 members, including 2,000 who now reside in the Bowling Green area.

The credit union was named Best-in-State for Banks and Credit Unions by Forbes in 2018, and ranked No. 1 in “Total Return to Member” in Indiana (No. 10 nationally) and No. 1 in “Best Performing Credit Union” in Indiana (No. 22 nationally) in 2017, the latest year available. It has earned the Evansville Courier & Press’ Platinum Award as Best Credit Union for six consecutive years, and also was named Best of the Best in newspaper balloting in both Gibson and Knox counties in Indiana in 2018.
